Our cadets recently attended a team building exercise here in the squadron. The exercises involved communication and teamwork skills and encouraged us to work together and listen to one another to work our situations. Some of the exercises we attempted were the twisted circle and shape shifters. The twisted circle consists of a team standing in a circle, they then need to hold wrists with the cadet opposite them and another cadet with their other wrist, they then have to work out how to untangle themselves, and we had to do this while being silent at first and then a second time by communicating with one another, this showed us just how important it is to talk and listen to one another. This exercise was the most difficult exercise of the night because whenever we had thought that we had untangled ourselves we found another know which we had to work together to get out of, somehow we managed to end up and two looped circles. The Shape Shifters exercise is when all cadets are blindfolded except one, the cadet not blindfolded is given a shape to make with the team and they must organise the blindfolded cadets into the desired shape. The shapes we made were a circle, triangle square and star. This exercise taught us about listening and trust. We had a great laugh together trying to do all the different exercises.
